Project Features:
Geological construction poses high risks due to the complex geological conditions in the construction area. The confined water head in the gravel layer at the bottom of the working shaft’s excavation pit fails to meet the requirements for resisting sudden water bursts. Along the route, chaotic and irregularly distributed boulders are found within the overlying silty and sandy soil layers, and numerous hidden ponds remain filled with uncleaned backfill. Moreover, the tunnel section contains self-contained biogas pockets; in certain localized areas, gas reservoirs with large gas volumes and high gas pressures may develop, posing multiple threats to construction safety. As a key project for transportation support during the Asian Games, this tunnel is located between the Qianjiang Third Bridge and the Qingchun Road Cross-River Tunnel, connecting two major new urban centers—Qianjiang New City and Qianjiang Century City. Upon completion, the tunnel will enable commuters to cross the river from the north bank to the south bank in just three minutes, significantly enhancing connectivity and efficiency between the two sides of the Qiantang River and providing crucial support for traffic management during the Asian Games.
