Abstract

Among the standout technological innovation projects, a pioneering method—“Liquid Nitrogen Freezing In-Situ Repair of Shield Tunneling Machine Tail Brushes”—has been developed. This breakthrough addresses the persistent challenge of tail brush seal failure in high-pressure water-bearing strata, filling an international gap in this field. Additionally, a dynamic optimization system for shield tunneling construction parameters has been created, enabling real-time collection of 128 key construction parameters. Other innovations include advanced technologies for continuous treatment of high-pressure groundwater. These efforts have collectively resulted in cost savings exceeding 60 million yuan. The hydrogeological conditions are exceptionally complex, with significant variations in mechanical properties, which can easily lead to uneven stress distribution and subsidence of the tunneling machine. Moreover, the Qiantang River’s tidal influence is pronounced, with maximum tidal ranges reaching 5.6 meters and scour depths beneath the riverbed exceeding 7 meters, necessitating that the tunnel be buried as deep as 37 meters. The maximum water pressure reaches 0.47 MPa, and the presence of marsh gas within the strata further complicates the construction process.

Project Features:

Among the standout technological innovation projects, a pioneering method—“Liquid Nitrogen Freezing In-Situ Repair of Shield Tunneling Machine Tail Brushes”—has been developed. This breakthrough addresses the persistent challenge of tail brush seal failure in high-pressure aquifer strata, filling a significant gap in the international field. The hydrogeological conditions are exceptionally complex, with substantial variations in mechanical properties, which can easily lead to uneven stress distribution and subsidence of the tunneling machine. Moreover, the Qiantang River’s tidal influence is remarkably pronounced, with maximum tidal ranges reaching 5.6 meters and scour depths beneath the riverbed exceeding 7 meters. As a result, the tunnel had to be buried at a depth of up to 37 meters, where the maximum water pressure reaches 0.47 MPa. Furthermore, the presence of marsh gas within the strata adds considerable complexity to the construction process.
