The Yongqing-Shanghai Section of the China-Russia East Pipeline Project – Yangtze River Tunneling Crossing工程

Release time:

2025-10-22

Abstract

This project is the first-ever engineering undertaking in the national pipeline network construction. It features a single-heading tunneling operation using a shield machine over a distance of 10.26 kilometers, with 7,500 meters of underwater tunneling and a maximum ice pressure of 0.73 megapascals. Currently, it represents the longest tunneling distance, deepest burial depth, and highest water pressure among all existing oil and gas pipeline projects that utilize shield tunneling technology to cross rivers worldwide.

Construction unit: China Railway Tunnel Bureau Group Co., Ltd.
Device Number: China Railway Equipment’s “Changtong” Tunnel Boring Machine,
Cutting disc diameter: 7.95 meters
Tunneling length: 10,226 meters
